JOB CONTEXT

ULAB is seeking to appoint a passionate, driven and innovative individual who will develop the Electrical & Electronic Department as a leading department in the country. S/he shall lead and design a modern, flexible and global standard curriculum for the Department. The Head will work in partnership with other offices/centers/departments within the university on a variety of strategic initiatives to support the university’s mission, values, and goals.

REPORTING

The Head of EEE Department will report to the Vice-Chancellor / Dean of Engineering School.

MAIN JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee student attraction, admissions and retention strategies for continuous quantitative and qualitative growth of the EEE department.
  • Lead the implementing, and reviewing of OBE (Outcome Based Education) focused curriculum.
  • Supervise preparing SAR (Self-Assessment Report) for BAETE (IEB) accreditation.
  • Ensure smooth running of the EEE department including monitoring the quality of faculty members and classes, creating a sound co-curricular and extra-curricular environment to foster student learning and participation, on-time course completion & assessment, and prohibiting any unethical practice etc.
  • Give emphasis on the creative development of the students so that they can make successful and sustainable footprints in the related sector
  • Focus on the development of the other faculty members of the EEE department.
  • Provide and discuss ideas with the VC and Pro-VC for the continuous and strategic development of the EEE Department.
  • Keep liaison with key people inside and outside ULAB to support on time faculty recruitment, knowledge sharing and to attain departmental goals and KPIs.
  • Understand and align the departmental operations with the related in house as well as Govt. policies and guidelines. Also manage any departmental compliance issues.
  • Enhance the research activities and quality publications of the department by encouraging the faculty and senior students.
  • Build a strong network with related industries.

EMPLOYMENT STATUS

Full-time Professor.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. EDUCATION

The candidate must have a PhD in the field of Electrical & Electronic Engineering or related discipline from an internationally reputed university.

  1. EXPERIENCE

12 years of teaching and research experience. This bar may be relaxed for the exceptional candidates having good quality foreign degrees.

  1. RESEARCH

At least 12 SCOPUS/IEE/Web of Science indexed publications. Publications with international co-authors will be an added qualification.

  1. SKILLS

Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills.

  1. LEADERSHIP

Should have minimum 3 years experience as Coordinator/Head/Dean or any other administrative/leadership positions. Ability to lead the EEE department focusing on understanding team members, team building, motivation, conflict resolution and timely decision making.

  1. INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE

Applicants with relevant experience in industry and consultancy will be preferred. 

  1. AGE

Maximum 60 years
