JOB CONTEXT

Security Officer will support the security operations of ULAB including but not limited to asset protection, protection of student and staff, prevention of theft and inventory loss. She/he has to ensure the security standards and also to ensure that are followed by all students and staff. Security Officer will mainly be responsible to maintain the visitors and guest coming to ULAB. She/he will be placed at the entrance gate and handle all visitors in order to have their smooth entry following the standard security protocol.

REPORTING

The Security Officer will report to the Head of Security.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Handle visitors and guest at time of their entry.
  • Ensure that security personnel posted at the entry gate are performing their job effectively.
  • Ensure smooth flow of vehicles at main entry drop-off and pick-up point
  • Ensure that vehicles are not parked in unauthorized areas.
  • Manage/control vehicular entry into the campus
  • Assist security in-charge in supervising security and safety issues.
  • Train and supervise security guards from time to time.
  • Ensure the safety of faculty, staff and students within the university.
  • Prohibit entrance of any kinds of alcohol, drugs, arms and any other harmful objects.
  • Keep vigilant watch on the students to avoid any untoward incidents.
  • Maintain liaison with local law enforcing agencies, other Govt officials and local influential people, as required.
  • Report any violence and accident/incident to the Security In-charge.
  • Support Registrar, Proctor and his/her team in any required situation.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. EDUCATION
  • Graduation in any discipline from a reputed University. This requirement may be relaxed for the exceptional candidates. 
  • Recent certification course or training on security and safety would be preferred
  1. EXPERIENCE
  • Should have at least 2 years of experience in the relevant field.
  1. OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication skills in Bangla; and functional  reading and writing skills in English
  • Emailing, Google Search and report preparation skills
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative in crisis management.
  • Ability to handle/monitor CCTV devices and equipment
